Tea Time with: Alice Toich

Who are you? Alice Angela Toich
What do you do? I study advertising more specifically Copywriting and I paint.

Where do you live, and whats your favorite part about living there?
Gardens, Cape Town.
It's beautiful in it's awkwardness- stuck between 3rd and 1st world. Chintzy-trash systems and bountiful landscapes that mix people from all corners of the earth. I love smelling sea-salty air coupled with a mountainous backdrop that would give Mordor a run for its golden rings.

How would you describe your style?
I daydream a lot so ideas I cook up while reading or pretending often dictate my wardrobe for the day- I like themes. My fashion muses are often fleeting so I like to play with a trend/item and let it go before crushing it to bits. As far as evergreen style goes; I could never escape the clutches of a sleek black silhouette and gold accent pairing, dripping garish clip-on's or high waisted cuts.

What have you recently become obsessed with?
Tribal jewelry. Flea markets and African markets on long str have some genuinely interesting pieces amoungst the wooden beaded rubbish and they're really cheap- once you've assured the seller you are not a foreigner.

Which movie character's style do you identify with the most?
Minnie Mouse. Polka dot central and frocks everyday.

Which 3 fashion items would you say represent you and your style the best?
Big earrings. Black leather belt. Basic white vests.

Which blog/ website do you gain the most inspiration from?
http://www.notcouture.notcot.org for innovative and functional design.
http://www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/ for indulging on darker days
http://www.solestruck.com/ to remind myself that beautiful things are in arm's reach (kinda).
http://arrestedmotion.com/ because good fashion is just like art for your body

Where do you dream of traveling to, and why?
Tokyo, more specifically the Harajuku district because I have owned this book ("FRUiTS: Tokyo Street Style - Photographs by Shoichi Aoki" )  since I was 12 and I NEED TO SEE IF THESE CREATURES ARE FOR REAL. Second would be The Pantanal in South America, because my dad says that Macaws fly in flocks there and I would like to steal their fallen feathers for my hats.

What to you, is the best part about blogging?
SHARING. Of ideas and achievements between real people.

What do you think will be the next big thing in fashion?
Tuxedos and bow ties for girls. God I hope so.

What is your fashion new years resolution?
To stop sacrificing my suede wedges in nightclubs and to stop socializing with drunk idiots who spill drinks on my suede wedges.
